In
January of 2006, Plachte-Zuieback Art Glass was commissioned
to design and create an
original art glass installation for the Shiffman
Chapel at Adat Shalom Synagogue, in Farmington Hills,
Michigan. The following project journal follows the progress
of the fabrication of the windows, in our studio, in Santa
Rosa, California.

David
assembled and puttied one of the two central panels
today.
|
|
|
Michelle
lays out the text for painting onto the pieces of
the second central panel
|
Each
piece is drawn onto the resist and then cut out
revealing the glass, which is hand painted before
firing.
|
|
The
resist is removed from the pieces of glass, after
the paint had dried sufficiently. Here, Michelle loads
the pieces of glass into the kiln for firing overnight. |
|
|
Meanwhile,
Nathan is hard at work doing the final cleaning
of the finished panels, before crating for delivery.
|
|
|
Another clean
window awaits crating.
