This
piece, for the sanctuary of Temple Emanu-el, in San Diego, was
fabricated from Fischer opal, streaky glass and dichroic glass.
The inscription, at center, translates: "God was
in this place and I did not know it." The text of
Jacob's life, both before and after his famous dream is hand
painted and fired onto white opal glass, surrounding the central
image of the ladder. Columns of dichroic, saw-cut,
birds swirl up and down the ladders at the edges of the composition.
