Tradition
demands that the first born son of every Jewish family
belongs to the priesthood and may only be redeemed through
the donation of five shekels to the Temple. In
this composition, five modern Israeli shekels go bouncing
into the Temple coffer. Above, is the priestly
breastplate, bearing the gems of the twelve tribes of
Israel.The
shekels are rendered in low fire enamel on Grey opal.
The breastplate uses gold leaf, in addition to low fire
enamel and sandblast etching.
